« on: August 29, 2009, 02:28:22 PM »
Hi , and welcome!

relax , and ...start reading my review :D.

Review system score scheme
Quote
   Max points : 20pts
   Pros & Cons : 0..5 points
   Interface : 0..5 points
   Usefulness : 0..5 points
   Motion support : 0..1.5
   Original entry : 0..1.5
   Bonus          : 0..2

Note : I'll be still using my usual theme , but a bit modified this time!

Are you READY???? ....lets go!!!

Quote
AVEC is a Vector map viewer capable of displaying and navigating maps
in the common Polish format maps.
The 1.50 kernel version can also receive location from a GPS device and
display your location on the map.
If the map file has street information, the program tells you what street
you are in, or lookup the name of a street selected with the crosshair.

I really have no words for this homebrew , its simply one of the best ,
and clearly the best in this contest , it deserves to be on top of the toplist.

Unfortunately the developer didn't have enough time to release the optimized
version , but trust me , its a really TOP HOMEBREW  APP.

If you have the required equipment(the GPS device) , then don't miss the chance to take a long ride , and enjoy the well-rendered vector graphics.

Pros & Cons
+Supports GPS device
+Renders perfectly the vector maps
+In the last 2 revisions the optimizations
made it fast enough to enjoy the maps
+Simple and clean interface
+I love the magnifier surface!!!
+File browser to load maps off the MS

-This little sound that plays when navigating,
could be modified a bit and maybe remove a couple
of miliseconds or maybe add the option to disable
sound effects!

5 / 5

Usefulness
If you plan to turn your PSP into a GPS device,
then this could be very useful.

If you wanna play around the maps and do a fly-trhough
through streets , then it will offer some fun.

4.5 / 5

Interface
The interface isn't anything special , but it actually works!
It simple , clean , prints the debug messages with style ,
and you'll get used really fast.

Some more GUI elements that will handle the functionality
would be more than welcome though!!

Original Entry
YES!!  , an original entry!
1.5 / 1.5

Bonus

Bugs found: No bugs were found.
Will this stay on my memory stick? : YES
What's missing to reach the top?: It would be cool if you could add some more options,
like search for example , and consider to edit the sound effect.

Summary
17.5 / 20

If you download frequently legitimate multiregion PSP titles off PSN Store,
this tool , is exactly what you have been looking for...

Everything that saves time , is always welcome , and especially when its well implemented.

Lets see how it will go...

Pros & Cons
+Nice and simple V.L.F. interface
+Works as you should be expecting
+There's nothing similar to this
+Build-in instructions menu
+Good idea to add usb functionality.
It saves time.

-Is there any reason that the app reboots
when exiting???
4.5 / 5

Usefulness
This little app is definetly very useful if you wanna
buy multiregion software off PSN Store.

Works well , its easy to use , and the simple interface
really helps.

That exit button is a bit pain though!
Why it does reboot?

4 / 5

Interface
The interface is simple , and uses the famous vlf library
for xmb like functionality and visuals.

All options are indexed in straight and correct order,
and the build-in instructions menu adds alot.

This plugin doesn't need introduction,
its simply one of the top plugins of all time.

It doesn't offer great design , it doesn't blows your mind with
anything special , all it does is the day of the week on the XMB.

I hope sony might consider adding this feature!!!(heheheh)

Pros & Cons
+The first plugin that its intended for daily use
+Really useful , it adds alot to the XMB
+Sony might consider adding this feature in the end
(haha!!)

-The color of the font  & the background used in installer is actually
pretty bad
3.5 / 5

Usefulness
Here you get the gold.
I could never believe that i would fall in love with such
a little plugin.

Excellent idea , great implementation...Just perfect.

5 / 5

Interface
Except the installer there's really nothing else
that can be considered as interface.

But!!! If it actually had interface , it would be a bad idea.
So you get a nice 3.5 out of 5 for just that!
You didn't mess the whole thing up!

Finally some fresh "air"!.

PeriodicPSP is a full periodic table with elements that contain 14 pieces of information.

Lanthanoids & Actinoids are also included.

Pros & Cons
+We haven't seen this before on psp
+While the design is simple , some nice additions
and effects add alot to the end result.
+Nice colors , and combined with some effects
it makes it easy to follow

3.5 / 5

Usefulness
Definetely not for daily use , but if your a grammar geek ,
then you should have it somewhere on your MS!!.

2.5 / 5

Interface
The interface is really simple, but the colors
are so nice and blend with each other.

Some nice effects also add alot to the visuals.

4 / 5

Motion support

PSPConsole is a nice little useful plugin , that allows you
to do various file/directory operations , has alarm clock,
mini games, and many little utilities packed together.

Pros & Cons
+Allows you to modify files/directories easily
+Includes minigames
+The utilities are a nice addition

3.5 / 5

Usefulness
It really depends , i don't think that the normal
user will have to do daily all these operations, but its a nice addition
to your plugins if your a plugin nerd!!

3.5 / 5

Interface
Its a plugin , don't expect much from interface.
But a basic text inteface is there , and it isn't that bad.

It works , and most of the time you won't run into any issues.

3 / 5

Motion support
No motion support

Original Entry
Nope!!  , not an original entry!

Here we have a Lua debugger with some extra functionality.

I don't think that this can offer more than lua's script compiler which
does this task in depth , but lets see how it will go.

Pros & Cons
+Has a couple of useful functions for lua coders

-Makes the script bigger in size and slower

2.5 / 5

Usefulness
I'm not sure how useful it is.
The purpose of lua scripts is to be as simple as possible.

And Lua's compiler already does this in more depth.

2.5 / 5

Interface
There is a simple text interface which
uses PSP virtual keyboard for commands.

2.5 / 5

Motion support
No motion support
0 / 1.5

Original Entry
YES!!  , an original entry!
1.5 / 1.5

Bonus
1 / 2

Bugs found: No bugs were found.

Will this stay on my memory stick? : No :(
What's missing to reach the top?: Maybe separate this in two versions:
Debug & release.

Summary
10 / 20

PSPCleaner is another tool that offer some basic functionality,
plus some more that we have already seen far too many times.

Repetition lives!

Pros & Cons
+Has some nice functionality
+Autoupdate feature

-The interface looks a bit messed up
(too many colors , bad looking background image)
-We have seen this many times

2.5 / 5

Usefulness

Honestly , we have seen this so many times , and the repetition can
really make things worse.

The autoupdate feature is a nice addition though...

2 / 5

Interface
The interface functionality isn't bad,
but the interface itself is.

There are far too many colors combined with an ugly
looking background image.

2 / 5

Motion support
No motion support
0 / 1.5

Original Entry
YES!!  , an original entry!
1.5 / 1.5

Bonus
1.5 / 2

Bugs found: No bugs were found.

Will this stay on my memory stick? : No :(
What's missing to reach the top?: Nothing to recommend a.t.m.

Summary
9.5 / 20

PSPTweaker is a simple tool that does all the basic functionality
that is already supported by m33 boot menu(registry hacks etc) , plus some more , like multi2 language support ,
and UMD dumping...Yep , UMD dumping is included everywhere these days!!!!!!.

Lets see how it will go...

Pros & Cons
+I like the black-themed vlf menu!
+Auto multi2 region language support(English , Italian)

-I can't find a reason why i would want
to use an app to do such basic operations
when i can simply use the m33 boot menu.

-We have seen this functionality implemented a gazilion times

2.5 / 5

Usefulness
Honestly , i don't think that is really useful , when i
can simply use m33 boot menu to do all the registry hacks
and format flash1...

1.5 / 5

Interface

The interface is simple , with a nice black-themed vlf xmb style menu.

3 / 5

Motion support
No motion support
0 / 1.5

Original Entry
YES!!  , an original entry!
1.5 / 1.5

Bonus
0.5 / 2

Bugs found: No bugs were found.

Will this stay on my memory stick? : No :(
What's missing to reach the top?: I don't really know what to recommend,
.....i just can't find a reason to use this.

Summary
9 / 20

Here we have a spirograph renderer...what more should
i say?

Lets see how it will go !!

Pros & Cons
+Nice rendering of spirographs
+Has options for dozens of patterns

-The save procedure takes way too long
and kills the fanfactor

2 / 5

Usefulness
Not really useful , but its alright for a few minutes of fun.
The long save times can ruin this though...

2 / 5

Interface
The interface is really basic and text based.

Its not bad , but i was expecting more from the GUI.
The concept is already simple , just missing some "sauce".

2 / 5

Motion support
No motion support
0 / 1.5

Original Entry
YES!!  , an original entry!
1.5 / 1.5

Bonus
0.5 / 2

Bugs found: No bugs were found.

Will this stay on my memory stick? : No :(
What's missing to reach the top?:
-The save routine takes way too long,
fix that!
-Add a better GUI

Summary
8 / 20

Good luck , and please remember : These reviews don't represent NEO Team's opinion , but just mine.

The final toplist might differ! ^-^

Very nice, I like the presentation. :)
However, since motion and original entry should represent 5% of the total, they should each be 1, not 1.5, but I'm just being picky.  ~sm-45.gif~

Thanks ~sm-37.gif~ !.

I do know that there is a small chance around 10 - 20% to give out + 2,5% * 2 , but 0.5 * 2 , can lead you nowhere .

First i had this extra 5%(1point) in the bonus section , but then i decided that 3 as a personal
rating was way too much , so i split it in 2 , and gave away the other 2 * 0.5(2,5%) in these two sections.

I think it works pretty well , and its fair , since the max score is already low ;).

Very good reviews ;)

Yeah, you're right, it does work pretty well this way, so it's no big deal. :)

I lol'd. I guess I really did deserve last though, considering my app only took me a few hours. Plus there are some good apps competing.  :)

I missed these posts  ~sm-31.gif~ , the list with the recent posts is growing fast ~sm-34.gif~.

I lol'd. I guess I really did deserve last though, considering my app only took me a few hours. Plus there are some good apps competing.  :)

If you had worked more on this , you could have been a bit higher , because its really unique and fun app , but some stuff don't work as someone would be expecting , and becomes frustrating after a while.

Thank you, very very good reviews! :D

Thanks for the wonderful plugin too ~sm-42.gif~.

Nice review :)

Quote
-Is there any reason that the app reboots
when exiting???
Yes, because there have been reports of PSX Titles being confused with the license swaps. They then crash. In order to be sure that this doesn't cause a crash, it reboots the system even if you pressed "Exit". ;)

That exit button is a bit pain though!
I was deciding between removing the Exit option or let it remain there. I decided to let it alone. ;)
Why it does reboot?
It reboots to clear everything in memory :p It's a sloppy way but it is 100% :)

Hope that clears things up there. ;)

If you have more questions, go to http://arnold.hyperphp.com/forums .

...and I'm not arnold, I just share the site with him and homemister91. ;)
