The current beta menu does allow reading/writing the whole mempak from/to the SD card. You might try that out. I don't see a way to eliminate the need for a mempak since games access the mempak directly. You have to patch every game that uses the mempak.

Here's the current beta menu for testing. Please let me know how it works (or doesn't) for you, and make any suggestions on how to improve the menu.

Remember, to get into the save manager, press the left shoulder trigger while on the SD card browser. Press start to go back to the SD browser.

thanks chilly!!
will try that out ASAP my NeoMyth64 arrives from HK!!

i also had to buy controller paks
i know some games rely on them for saving anything
i just hope they work okay becuz 3rd-party controller vs 3rd-party pak

very happy we can make backups becuz its a big deal if you only have 1 or 2 paks
thanks again!!

(BTW i mean "eliminate" like maybe real-time save might happen one day or something like that)

Are there future plans to also dump save games from game cart?

That works already with the beta menu posted above. There may be still some bugs though.

Real time saving(saving/restoring the whole HW state) is not possible.

If you're asking to patch the standard N64 SDK calls responsible with mempack handling and re-direct all operations to an SD file , then , yes , it is *very* possible but not worth the trouble since we can already save/restore mempack blocks to/from SD.

The current (beta3) menu: http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/2/3/2304902/NeoN64Menu-2.3b3.7z

While on the SD browser, press the left shoulder button to enter the Save Manager. It will show controls to save different kinds of save memory in the cart (I need to find a way to determine what cart is inserted in the Myth to eliminate the controls for methods that don't apply). It also shows controls to format the mempak if it's detected but not formatted, or to load or save the mempak if it is detected and good. It also shows a list of saves in the mempak. You cannot currently load/save individual saves - you have to load/save the entire mempak.

Thanks, I wondered if I'd get any feedback on that. I often use the Danzeff On-Screen Keyboard (originally done for the PSP) with stuff for consoles, but it seemed a bit much here, so I made my own variation that is considerably smaller, using text instead of PNGs for the OSK. The QWERTY style layout also seemed to me would be more familiar to folks for faster input.
