Help - Savestates doesn't works
« on: December 09, 2011, 08:12:32 PM »
Hi there,

I have some trouble with my Neo3 Myth Cart SD.
The main problem is it doesn't seems to save my game.
I've played some game with savestate, like Super Mario World and Secret Of Mana, but when I've restarted the console, all my saves... gone.

How can I solve this issue ?

PS : Sorry for my english, I'm french.

That's because the menu code needs 2 small changes in order to properly enable SRAM on NEO3SD carts.....

I haven't received any Neo3-SD cart to test with. I was under the impression that Dr Neo would send out some, but maybe I misunderstood him.
Anyway, yeah, this isn't something I've really looked at since all my carts are Neo2 carts.

Hello,

Thanks for your responses.

Well, I did some tests, and apparently it's seems to work only for few games.
In fact, it's does work for Mario world, Dragon Ball Gokuden...
But for others games, like Secret of Mana, or ChronoTrigger, nothing happen when I try to save.

How can I enable the SRAM on the menu ?

Thanks

Ok,

I've installed the new menu version 0.57, and now it's working.

But a have another question :
How can I put my emulator SRAM, on the cartridge.
There is no like "SRAM" folder on the SD.

Thanks.

The menu doesn't support it yet. It's something I plan to add in some future version.  (assuming that you mean SRM files that is - if you mean savestates like ZST, that will never be supported).

Yes, I was talking about the SRM files.

I have just lost my data for all the games, for no reason.
It's seems like my data/saves disapears after shutdown 2 or 3 times my console.

Does anyone have the same trouble as I have ?

It will be great to resolve this issue on the new menu version.
In the meantime, I won't play games with saves option anymore.

Thanks.

That seems unlikely - that the memory would lose it contents. What might have happened though, is that you played some other game that uses SRAM, because that would overwrite whatever was in the SRAM previously (the menu uses the same chunk of SRAM for all games, although you can manually override that on the options screen (press X on the main screen)).

What I intend to add is that when you load a game from SD that uses SRAM the menu will save information about what game you loaded and how much SRAM it has, and the next time you boot the menu it will use that information to automatically backup the SRAM contents for that game to the SD card. That will require you to put blank SRM files for all the games using SRAM on the SD card, because the menu cannot create new files on its own.

Could you explain me exactly what I have to do?

Where I must put the blank files?

Does I have to give them the name of the game?

etc...

Are you referring to the automatic backup of SRAM to SD? That feature is not supported (yet).

No, I was talking about what you were saying to RetroMike about "putting blank SRM files for all the games using SRAM on the SD card, because the menu cannot create new files on its own."

Because for now, if I play a game that use save (example SMW) if I play any other game after, my SMW save will be automatically erased...

Did anyone find out how to put blank SRM files on the sd card? is it just creating a file called gametitle.srm (empty notepad file, renamed from gametitle.txt to gametitle.srm) in the same folder as gametitle.smc is?

no, I've already tried to put blank SRM files like you were saying (gametitle.srm in the same folder as gametitle.smc) and it's not working...

And mic_ don't seem to want to answer/talk more about this subject.... So we're left into the nothingness.....

Funny, I seem to remember seeing this above...

Sounds pretty definitive to me. Until a new menu version is posted with sram saving in the list of changes, there's nothing to talk about.

As ChillyWilly said, the answer I gave earlier still stands. The menu currently doesn't support backup of SRAM to SD.
