windows8, how to install the driver?
« on: May 19, 2013, 11:00:33 AM »
Hello  ::sm-25.gif::

I got Windows 8, but having difficulty to install the drivers for USB slim loader IV + pce flash.

Did anyone have success installing a driver on Windows8? I got the Neo2 Pro Manager 1.03 beta software install OK... but, the driver install failed. When I connect the slim loader, the light is on red (write). NEO2 Pro Manager tells "No SlimLoader USB Found!"
Device manager shows it is "USB POWER KIT", so, I try selecting the driver from NEO2/Driver/XP_or_later/amd64 and got error:
Code: [Select]
The following hardware was not installed:
USB Slim Loader IV
An error occurred during the installation of this device.

The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information.
Is there a new version which can support Windows 8, or...? Another hint?

I hope some one can help! Thank you for any advice!

I installed version 1.32 and still can't install the drive properly on Windows 8 (64-bit). I'm also getting the error, of course, "No SlimLoader Usb Found". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working now, I disable driver signature in Windows 8 and installed the driver manually. Works great!

Another option is to run Windows XP (32-bit) in a virtual machine. The compatibility is much better for niche software such as this. With the appropriate extension, VirtualBox supports USB 2.0 passthrough and it works fine. I've used it for various flashing related tasks over the years, some of which would have been impossible in newer 64-bit editions of Windows.
