Super MVS Converter Plus 2011 doesn't work.
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:23:22 AM »
The following games reset on me when trying to play them with the converter:

Agressors of Dark Kombat
The King of Fighters '94
The King of Fighters '96
The King of Fighters '97
The King of Fighters '99
The King of Fighters 2003
Last Blade 2
Metal Slug 1
Metal Slug 2
Metal Slug X
Metal Slug 3
Ninja Masters
Prehistoric Isle 2
Samurai Shodown 2
Samurai Shodown 3
Samurai Shodown 5 Special
World Heroes 2 Jet
World Heroes Perfect

These games will usually reboot at the title screen, character select screen, or the first level/fight. The game Neo Bomberman also doesn't work as it boots to a black title screen that contains only a small orange box and the words "Level-4". Neo Bomberman also won't respond to any of my button presses. I have the 5V/3A Neo Geo power supply so that shouldn't be the problem, should it? I have gotten a few games to work with seemingly no or little problems. Is it an issue with my converter and will I need to get a replacement or is there a possible fix?

you need a 5V/3A (or 9V/3A) DC adapter , it's your power issue if ALL games can't work.

As I said, some games actually do work with the converter. I've tried the converter with two different 5V/3A AC adapters on two different consoles. I have the same problems with both consoles regardless of the AC adapter I used.

Yes, they're both original. For some reason KoF 94 works with one system but tends to reboot with the other. Also some of the games will reboot/crash at different spots for each system. Thank you for your time and any assistance.

that's the problem. you use a 20 years+ old dc adapter to work with mvs cart + magickey , the dc adapter can't output enough current already, you need buy a new dc adapter to instead with these 20 years + old one.

If it's the power supply, how come some games behave differently depending on the console and not the supply? I have the plain 2011 MVS converter and not the MagicKey, so shouldn't I have less current draw? I have a Unibios v3.0 installed on one of the consoles and it almost always reports an illegal instruction or address error at the points where the system would just reboot on the unmodded system. This console, BTW, is the one that tends to have "better" support for the games (e.g. games tend to crash later, KoF 94 and Ninja Masters work w/ minor issues). As this system has an internal board to convert RGB to S-video and component output, I'd think it would draw more current than the unmodded system.

unibios don't need much current, but the 2011 converter and magickey need.

please try if you can.

I've purchased one of the Super SNK AC adapters from IC2005. I'll let you know how it works once I get it.

can you make sure your AC adapter is 9V or 5V? becasue the ic2005 have 9v(12v) version in stock only at this moment?

My AC adapters are in fact 5V/3A. I'll try to cancel my order with IC2005 and find another AC adapter with the right specifications.

I can now confirm that the problem is NOT with the power supply. I tried it with a brand new power supply that can source 5V/4A and I'm having the same problems as before.

if you make sure it's the magickey issue, please send back to us, we will replace you a new one. and we want to test what's happen with your magickey, because we use kof 98 / kof 2000 / kof2003 and metal slug x to full test it before ship...

please check your PM.

May I add that my Super MVS Converter 2 has stopped working today and started resetting just after the SNK screen on all MVS games I try with it.  It's worked fine for up to 8 months until I put KOF 2002 in today.  I suspect that it has been drawing too much power from my original 5v ac lead (Japanese plug with correct step down converter for UK 240v mains) as AES games still work ok.  I've ordered a new power supply, but if that isn't the issue may I return my converter to you for a replacement as well?
