SMS2 vs SMS4
« on: December 27, 2014, 09:55:18 PM »
Hi,

I'm considering getting one of your DS backup devices as the one I was using (from another manufacturer) broke and I decided that the shipping to Hong Kong to have it potentially repaired wasn't worth it.

I see that there are two popular DS backup devices that you sell, the SMS2 and the SMS4. I am a little confused, what are the differences between these two products? Is it just that one is faster than the other or is there a difference in compatibility?

Thanks,
A potential customer

But does it offer better game compatibility?

Also, do you know whether it's compatible with 3DS games like Pokemon X/Y and Animal Crossing: New Leaf?

Pokemon X/Y stores saves in SD card from what i've read... Don't know about the latter but it should ..

Thank for your replies, I think I might just go with the SMS2 as I mainly want to deal with DS and 3DS games that are simple (no complicated way of saving, just the standard way) like the Professor Layton games.

Since you're serious about 3ds support ,  spend +10$ and get the sms4 adapter. Its a completely redesigned version of sms2 adapter that has workarounds for sms2's hw limits. ..

What hardware limits? Is the SMS 4's 3DS support much better than the SMS 2's?

SMS2 can't support 3ds.
