In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10 : NO
Project description : Orbid is a unique game in which you're a small orb struggling to survive. You must eat the smaller(orange) orbs in order to gain points and survive in this dangerous world. All the while, you'll be avoiding larger orbs or else you'll become their dinner! Quick, fun, arcadish gameplay.

Orbid contains 5 distinct single player game modes.
~~~ Normal Mode
   Level based, in which each level will become increasingly harder for you to survive.
~~~ Survival Mode
   Survival of the fittest. Survive for as long as possible before you become the enemies dinner.
~~~ Time Mode
   Beat the clock. Eat as many helpless orange orbs as possible. For each one you eat, your timer will +1; and for each set of orbs you eat, you'll recieve a 15to20+ random amount of time.
~~~ Mine Mode
   Avoid the mines! Your goal is to eat the helpless small orb each round while avoiding the various scattered mines throughout the map.
~~~ Dodge Mode
   Avoid the roaming orbs! Try to survive for as long as possible.
Orbid now contains a multiplayer mode for playing online against a friend.
It uses netlib(http://youresam.team-duck.com/netlib/), so you must set up a netlib server in order to use it. Just change the ip.txt in the data folder to the ip of the server you want to connect to.
NOTE: This multiplayer mode is in a very experimental stage. It's in an early beta stage and isn't 100% guaranteed to work. It may or may not work.
Here's a PSP clone of the popular flash game
"Kitten Cannon" by Dan Fleming.
Kitten Cannon is very simple to play and maybe harder to watch if you're the squeamish type  Cry
Just aim the cannon using the up/down directional pad buttons or analog stick and use [X] to fire.  The red bar on the cannon indicates the power of your shot.  Leave the rest to gravity and the objects that litter the ground.  Press [START] to pause and SELECT while paused to return to the main menu.  My high score is 3852 feet! Beat that score and I'll give you a cookie  Kiss
Take screenshots with the TRIANGLE button - saved in "Kitten Cannon/Screenshots/'.  Highscores are now automatically saved in the Screenshots folder.  Please redownload if you have a version released before 8 AM on this boards time. (just replace the eboot and add a screenshots folder if you dont want to have the longer transfer time).
One day AgenaWorld Version 1.5 (for Sony PSP)
-------------------------------------
This version works on PSP Slim and PSP Phat.  It also
supports TV out (on PSP Slim only).
For TV, put in the cable, select external display from XMB, run the program under PSP Slim and follow the instructions on the screen to choose resolutions.
Major features are custom fonts support and better physics for
a ghost ship.  To see all the fonts (part of splash screen), run it on TV mode.
The goal of the game is to find and reach EARTH using the spacegate cubes.
Storyline:
----------
In the near future, you captain a spaceship with extra-ordinary
technology.  Powered by nuclear fusion and fission generators and
supported by ion micro-thrusters and gyroscopes, your ship can
support long-term journeys.  After a long travel in hybernation
across the deep space, you come across the Juniper Belt and
discover a mysterious asteroid surrounded by many "hypercubes".
They are alien in origination, but one thing is known, when
your ship touches one of the cubes, a gravitation assist field
is generated around your ship.  Firing an EMP afterwards, activates
the field and your ship is slingshot at great velocity towards
a destination pre-allocated by the respective cube touched.
It is year 2492, the year that all nine planets are lined up
end to end from the sun to pluto. With the help of the cubes, you
are able to travel to distant galaxies, nebulas, and even all
nine planets in the solar system, overcoming the laws of relativity.
AgenaWorld is a classic space shooting game similar to (and a little aiming
towards) the "Homeworld" PC game, but has its own unique features.
Press RTRIGGER Button in game to see mission objective.  Supports
multiplayer (PSP to PSP) via infrared. See below for more details.
Project description:
     This game is based of a game that me and my friends use to play before we had PSP, DS, Cellphones, etc. That game involved a piece of paper and 2 pens.  On the game you would fold the paper into halve and draw a line down the middle.  Next each person would draw 10 people 5 tanks, 3 cannons, 2 heli's, and one base.  Each item had a predetermined life(amount of hits before dead).  They would then take turns shooting at each other.
     You took shots be placing a dot on your side of the field opposite of where you wanted to shoot.  Next you would fold the paper over and push hard with the pen on the back side of the paper.  This would transfer the dot across the field, causing a shot.  That would hurt the character if it hit it, until it was dead and scratched out.
     The point of the game was to be the last person standing.  SO my game is very similar to that but electronically.  Also I've added difficulty levels that make it harder to shoot and hit.
     This game is the second released game by me and my company(the company consists of just me.)  I spent all year on this and if it doesn't rate well I will probably sell all my PSP stuff(All ready packed up) and get a new laptop to code windows programs, and our school's $5,000-8,000 robot for FIRST Robotics.  I wished I could have had time to ad AI but thats somthing that might get added in a future game.  Also since LUA doesn't support the tilt sensor I was unable to add that to my game.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and try my game.
Pipagerardo has released version 1 of his Asteroid Barrier homebrew game, and it certainly looks impressive enough. We did a bit of digging around to find out more about this game, and we've realized the game is a little bit like Pong with machine guns.
You see, the object of the game is to send as many objects as possible to the goal of your opponent. The screen's split in half, and the player basically has to keep on moving around and firing to hit the opponent's scoring quadrant till time runs out. The single player game has 10 levels, and there's also a multiplayer mode for you to try out.
Reviews for the PSP Game section.
I scored each game on grafix, sound and gameplay out of 10 ending up with a preliminary score out of 30.  An original entry is an extra 1.5 points (5%) and support for motion is also worth an extra 1.5 points.  Ending up with a total score out of 33.  Well done to every coder who has entered a game.
‘Motion Pong’ by bumuckl - 17/33
When all said and done this is a port of pong – though with a difference – it supports the motion kit!  Very nice implementation with some cool grafix, I scored it:
Grafix: 7/10
Sound: 0/10 – no sound
Gameplay: 7/10 – heck its Pong
Original/Motion: 3/3
‘Orbid’ by slasher – 24.5/33
I found this kinda like snake, where you move around the screen gobbling smaller orbs whilst avoiding bigger ones that in turn gobble you and kill you.  Different modes like ‘avoid’ make for quite good fun gameplay
Grafix: 8/10 – really very nice!
Sound: 8/10 – goes very well
Gameplay: 7/10 – all in all a nice idea, really well implemented.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Kopbanpsp’ by kaltorak – 0/33
Couldn’t get this to work.
‘Aap Lander’ by Blackshark – 17.5/33
This is a luna lander type game where you blast off and negotiate obstacles and well, that’s all I can really say.
Grafix: 6/10
Sound: 6/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Nikwi Deluxe’ by Deniska – 17.5/33
I found this a bit like bubble bobble, why I’ve no idea as its not like it at all.  It’s a platformer type where you collect candy while avoiding being bombed by what look like irate seagulls.  Pretty simple but still good fun.
Grafix: 6/10
Sound: 5/10
Gameplay: 5/10 – does get a bit repetitive.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Polygunwars’ by ahrimanes – 27.5/33
This is a an awesome asteroids type game, great gameplay with professional looking grafix, in fact its better than some PSP games I’ve paid money for!  It does seem to have a bug whereby it makes my psp hang after a while.
Grafix: 9/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Bumper Harvest’ by Kagato – 24.5/33
It’s a kind of pinball game where you shoot a ball at other balls to remove them from the field of play.  Sounds a bit rubbish but in fact is quite addictive and really good fun.  Very nice grafix.
Grafix: 8/10
Sound: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Unofficial Cave Story’ by leviadragon – 12.5/33
Weird doesn't really cut it for this game.  You have to catch some balls that fall from the sky, then jump on a dragon, then run away from a fat cloud.  strangely - I quite liked it.
Grafix: 7/10 - nicely done
Sound: 0/10 - no sound on fat or slim for me
Gameplay: 4/10 - when you work out what you have to do it becomes a little less interesting.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Scogger’ by scognito – 20.5/33
Dunno if this is too late now but, I've managed to get this running now.  Pretty damn good game as well - gamesplay wise its exactly  like the DS version and I liked that one - a lot!  You're a frog and you have to jump from place to place with each point disappearing as soon as you're jumped it - end result just have the frog left on one stone and move up a level.  Great fun - highly polished!
Grafix: 7/10 - very nice, if ultimately samey from level to level.
Sound: 5/10
Gameplay: 7/10 - good fun
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Agenaworld’ by edepot – 14.5/33
Ermmm, you’re a triangle in space, with a gun, avoiding things until you collide with squares that move you around a bit.
Grafix: 5/10
Sound: 6/10 – though you can play your own wav’s
Gameplay: 2/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Bugz’ by insertwittyname – 30.5/33!  This must win!
Holy ****!  This is awesome, great gameplay with saves like a retail game, game sharing, uploadable high scoring!  Game itself is annoyingly simple – you kill bugs by blowing them up with domino effect explosions – yet I’ve just spent hours playing it!
Grafix: 9/10
Sound: 10/10 – the music works extremely well
Gameplay: 10/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Convey!’ by saulotmalo – 12.5/33
Simple avoidance game where you control a rolling ball by moving to the left and right down a 10 pin bowling looking track, you have to avoid holes and collect items as you go.  Use all 3 lives and die.
Grafix: 5/10
Sound: 3/10
Gameplay: 3/10 – gets boring very quickly
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Dororo’s Adventure’ by b0rk – 17.5/33
3D!!!! Adventurer where you collect items open locks and generally scoot around places.  Great graphics with a lot of work gone into it.
Grafix: 7/10
Sound: 3/10
Gameplay: 6/10 – I found it quite difficult to control as the camera is pretty temperamental, but still – its 3D homebrew!
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Paper Battle’ by mitchelljm – 11.5/33
This is a kind of battleships, but with stick people, tanks and a helo port.  No AI to play against so is a two player game on one psp – takes a long time to set up, but it does work and ok for what it does.
Grafix: 5/10
Sound: 0/10
Gameplay: 5/10 – just a bit boring
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Kitten Canon’ by sg57 – 24.5/33
Port of the ever popular game where you fire kittens from a canon trying to make them travel the furthest via trampolines, bombs on balloons and high explosives.  This is a really good port, very easy to get into and great way to play a few hours away!
Grafix: 8/10
Sound: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10 – great game, but is a port.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Karuko’ by MK2k – 19.5/33
Sudoku type puzzle game, very easy to understand and very well implemented.
Grafix: 8/10
Sound: 5/10
Gameplay: 5/10 – I would like to see the pop up number entering box to be quite a lot larger.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Asteroid Barrier’ by pipagerardo – 20.5/33
Asteroids on steroids in Spanish – whats not to like?
Grafix: 8/10
Sound: 4/10 – 80s electro pop
Gameplay: 7/10 – as fun as asteroids can get.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Lets roll!’ by Da MerV – 0/33
Wouldn’t load.
‘Tetrisbetes’ by dragula96 – 26.5/33
This is probably the best port of tetris for the psp that I’ve ever seen – in fact its much better than a lot of tetris’ on many different consoles.  Includes wall kick and t-spin.  This would win hands down if it was an original game – but it is still a port.
Grafix: 6/10
Sound: 10/10 – able to play own mp3
Gameplay: 9/10 – its tetris after all.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Look Out!’ by Tanos – 10.5/33
Super simple game.  You are a ball that has to reach a wall without getting stabbed by an arrow.
Grafix: 6/10 – pretty good for what it is.
Sound: 0/10
Gameplay: 3/10 – whole game lasts about a minute.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Blowup!’ by gambiting – 17.5/33
Kind of 3D tank controller.  You shoot tomato type things while collecting coins.  This was quite good fun for a bit – though it continually crashed after a while.
Grafix: 6/10
Sound: 4/10
Gameplay: 6/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Sushi rubik’ by teamsushi – 18.5/33
Well this does what is says on the tin – it’s a rubik cube on the psp.  Controls work well and its very nice to have an autocomplete feature.  For me though a rubik cube is a physical thing – you need to be able to toss it against a wall when its pissed you off enough.
Grafix: 7/10 – very good, but it needs to keep the background the same when you make a move, the constant changes start to annoy after the first few.
Sound: 4/10
Gameplay: 6/10 – its rubik cube on the psp!
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Avoid it!’ by cdesseno – 15.5/33
You’re a square and you have to avoid other squares – bit like high school.
Grafix: 4/10
Sound: 3/10 – this gets really annoying
Gameplay: 7/10 – fun for about a minute
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Impact’ by slicer4ever – 14.5/33
Puzzle type game where you control 2 balls via the arrow pad and try to make them bump into each other whilst avoiding walls.
Grafix: 4/10
Sound: 4/10
Gameplay: 5/10 – I liked this idea and can see that with some polish it would make a nice simple little puzzler.
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘Heartlight Deluxe’ by MK2k – 13.5/33
Puzzler where you move an elf? Around a maze collecting hearts and avoiding being crushed by large ball bearings.  Good for a bit.
Grafix: 4/10
Sound: 3/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Original/Motion: 1.5/3
‘The chronicle of Mr. Sun’ – 0/33
Can’t find it to download.
My top ten:
1.   Bugz
2.   Polygunwars
3.   Tetriabetes
4.   Orbid
5.   Bumper Harvest
6.   Kitten Canon
7.   Asteroid Barrier
8.   Scogger
9.   Kakuro Nichiyou
10.   Sushi Rubik
Review of all Entries (WIP) --- By sturm105  [ * No.3 NEO Reviewer * ]
Polygun Wars: Fairly close to the real Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (which I own and play). Polygun wars is a little bit easier, and the graphics aren't exactly up to par. I suppose I've been spoiled by Trigonometry Wars. However, gameplay was solid and controls responsive. Enemies did what they were supposed to, but I did notice that black holes did not affect my ship or my shots. Overall, good game. (NOTE: Crashed if I did nothing in the front menu for about 20 seconds.)
  • Graphics: 8/10 Looks pretty close, but there's some in-game lag.
  • Gameplay: 10/10 Plays just like the real Geometry Wars.
  • Concept: 6/10 Bringing console fun to the PSP. Would be cool if it hadn't been done before.
  • Total: 8+10+6+1.5 (original enter) = 25.5
Sushi Rubik
: Worked great, I don't know Rubik's notation, but as far as I could tell it was accurate. I really enjoyed hitting all the buttons, then watching it solve itself. I can't solve a Rubik's Cube, so I don't know how good it is as an actual simulator.
  • Graphics 8/10 Not stellar, but they get the job done.
  • Gameplay: 10/10 It's even easier to turn than my real Rubik's™ cube! And easier to solve. (Autosolve FTW!)
  • Concept: 9/10 While a lot easier to carry and solve than a real cube, there's nothing stopping you from getting one.
  • Total: 8+10+9+1.5 (original enter) = 28.5
Bugz: This is probably gonna get my vote. It's extraordinarily professional. It even uses the PSP's save system, or something very, very, VERY close. It starts up great, has clean lines, and nice text. Bugz also has solid gameplay. While based a little bit on luck, timing and aiming are still major components of this well-made game.
  • Graphics: 10/10 They look as good as Loco Roco!
  • Gameplay: 9/10 Could've been based more on skill than luck, but overall fun to play.
  • Concept: 10/10 Make a professional looking game with good gameplay and beautiful menus. Works for me!
  • Total: 10+9+10+1.5 (original enter) = 30.5
Orbid: I did not play the original Orbid, but this one seems like a good game. Reminding me of Snake in concept and flOw in execution, the graphics are shiny and fun to look at. The gameplay is fun, but my nub-less analog… thing… made it slightly uncomfortable to play. I didn't have a chance to try the multiplayer because of my stupid WiFi router, but looking forward to it. Even though it's not in there, I could definitely see motion being integrated into the game. That motion would put this game miles above the other motion games, which are mostly Pong clones (not to be dissing Pong clones, but they're flooding the world of every system everywhere). Someone pointed out that they're more squares than orbs, and the artist replied that more orb-like shapes are planned in future versions. I hope motion is also included, because that would make a sick game to play.
  • Graphics: 9/10 Very well polished, but the squareness shaves just a hair off of ten.
  • Gameplay: 10/10 Control scheme is great, the game is difficult but not impossible. Many modes to choose from. Infrastructure multiplayer is a plus.
  • Concept: 8/10 Make a shiny game combined with the key elements of classics.
  • Total: 9+10+8+1.5 (original enter) = 28.5
Update: My router came back… and multiplayer crashed my PSP. Eh, I probably would've lost to someone else, anyway.
Note: I used the 3.XX kernel version on phat 3.90 M33. Also, check out my ADHD!
Dororo's Adventure: The turnout of 3D games for this competition is amazing. I remember back in 2005 when the coolest-looking game was Attack of the Mutants . Now it's 2008, and we have Dororo's Adventure. A 3D puzzle game featuring responsive controls (maybe a bit too responsive) and an actual backstory (ZOMG!), players are going to be entertained for hours. Dororo's Adventure features a multitude of puzzles and has a cliffhanger "ending." Well, it doesn't tell us who left teabags lying around. Hehe… teabagging…
  • Graphics: 10/10 This is the best-looking 3D game I've ever seen. It even has multiple viewing angles.
  • Gameplay: 9/10 Entertaining puzzles, but the controls are zipping you across the stage.
  • Concept: 10/10 I like puzzle games, and this one has everything a good puzzle needs: graphics, puzzle contruction, challenge, and some weird premise.
  • Total: 10+9+10+1.5 (original enter) = 30.5
Motion Pong: A Pong clone for the PSP. Who saw that one coming? Controls are pretty standard, arrows for up and down. This game also does motion sensing, allowing you to play with mittens that do not have thumbs. While cool for the novelty of it, Pong isn't the shining achievement it used to be.
  • Graphics: 8/10 Looks nice, fairly shiny. Nothing jumps out at me.
  • Gameplay: 9/10 Power-ups add a nice touch, and the controls are solid. However, the AI is tougher than most.
  • Concept: 4/10 Port Pong… again… this time, add motion!
  • Total: 8+9+4+1.5 (original enter) + 1.5 (Motion score) = 24
BlowUp!: Another 3D offering in the Neoflash Spring Coding Competition. This game puts you in the driver's seat of a 1 mm tall tank, on a quest! Not to conquers, but to pillage… or collect, I suppose, coins. There are also spinning fan things trying to shoot at you. There are big blocks from who-knows-where in your way, and what appears to be rain in the background. All in all, it's one of the best-looking games in the competition. Right behind Dororo's Adventure, its 3D competitor, it never fails to display what a little hard work and some coding knowledge, along with the work done by the OpenGL (PSPGL?) team, can produce. With good game play (even though I couldn't find the last coin on the first level… Undecided), 3D graphics, and moving treads on the tank, we have here a serious contender for the #1 PSP Game.
  • Graphics: 9/10 3D, but some odd texture choices. (What's with the ground? It looks like mud from marsh.)
  • Gameplay: 9/10 Pretty solid, but the seemingly bugged first level holds it back.
  • Concept: 10/10 3D tanks are the wave of the future!!
  • Total: 9+9+10+1.5=29.5
Avoid It: A game of quick reflexes and open-source art software, Avoid It v0.2 was entered into the competition a day before its Lua cousin, Look Out!. In this game, you play a green square (or something) trying to avoid the multitude of different colored squares or rectangles. Some of them have fangs. You must run from them. Sadly, there is no backstory as to why we are running. There is also the question of the "Life" mechanic. In my experience, it's pretty much you get hit, you die. Perhaps I didn't pick up enough life packs, but why not have just a one-hit check? Featuring multiple levels of difficulty and lack of d-pad support, this game provides a pick-up-and-play version of the much more complex ZOMG WE'RE GONNA DIE FROM ATTACKING ALIENS, due for release in 2008, published by EA Games.
  • Graphics: 8/10 Nothing impressive, not too impressive on any front, EXCEPT it used the GIMP.
  • Gameplay: 8/10 Nothing new, but all well executed.
  • Concept: 9/10 Rising above the other avoiding games with multiple levels and multiple enemies, the roof wasn't much farther up. How to get on top? Make it 3D.
  • Total: 8+8+9+1.5 (original enter) = 26.5
Scogger: I was not able to get this game to run, no matter which folder I put it in. However, I was able to play it on my DS, and it was fun. Reserving real commentary for the DS version, but I feel obligated to score it here.
  • Graphics: 8/10 Not bad, has a retro feel while not looking bad.
  • Gameplay: 9/10 Different from Frogger, almost no similarities. Original!
  • Concept: 8/10 Bonus for making it dual-platform. Bonus negated by lack of compatibility.
  • Total: 8+9+8+1.5 (original enter)/2 (because it didn't work.) = 13.25
By scognito  : Hi, I'm the author of Scogger.
It's impossible the game can't run sorry :/
Standard directory configuration is
PSP->GAME->scogger
inside it put eboot.pbp and the res directory
It works on every console tried, even all other users on the net.
Thanks.
PSP Game Reviews :) --- By wally
These are my reviews (its work in progress), I only reviewed some LUA entries as some work. I won't review LUA Shells. We have too many of these already and they all do the same thing. I won't go on, anyway here are the reviews!
Bugz! - InsertWittyName
Bugz (Based on Boomshine) is a fast paced challenge which calls all ladybirds from all different places with a special whistle. With its polished up professional quality type game which utilises features such as saving highscores to internet / Game Sharing and many more for you to discover The idea of bugz is to blow up as many bugs as you can in a chain reaction however there is a catch.  That catch is the bugs move a lot quicker than you think! So show it to your parents, your hippy friends or even a band and get dancing.. uhh I mean playing.
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10 Couldn't go better!
Gameplay: 10/10
Blowup! by gambiting
This game has some great ideas and will become a rather great game. The idae is to shoot some spinning red coins while collecting yellow coins with a tank that doesn't quite look like a tank at the moment!  The sounds are great however the coin does sound like the coin out of Super Mario World which is a let down. Once this game is really raving and the dev has more experience in development, this game will rock our socks. Keep up the good work!
Graphics - 6 / 10
Sound  - 4 / 10
Gameplay - 8 /10
Kitten Cannon - SG57
The idea behind Kitten Cannon is to shoot a HEAVILY DISABLED cat out of a cannon onto some bombs / napalms or softly onto a trampoline and get as far as you can before the cat gets mutilated by spikes / Venus Flytraps. The only way to do so is to load the cannon up with enough power and angle, then BOOM goes the kitten until the poor thing plunges into its doom. Its not for young ones or German teachers unfortunately.
Graphics - 8 / 10
Sound -  8 / 10
Gameplay - 9 / 10
Scogger  - scognito
SCOGS! Dangerous animals, they just seem to jump out everywhere. The idea of Scogger is to make that scog jump onto the lily pad until all the lily pads disappear.  So if you are standing on one lily pad and jump to the next that last lily pad is gone forever until you fail which of course scognito wants you to. Playing 10 levels at a time until you can't pass one then restarting the game from scratch regenerates another 10. I was given a hard one first up but that got me wanting to try again. For a next version maybe some more background stuff that makes it more of a natural swamp and making it a challenge for us, ideas like having birds try to get you if you dont jump within 2 seconds and having more swamp life like cricket noises / swarms of flies or mozzies in the background. It'd make this game a lot more interesting!
This game was seen not to work on my Slim, however you might find that you have to rename the folder so its just scogger and it should work.
Graphics - 9 / 10
Sound -  4 / 10
Gameplay - 5 / 10
Heartlight PSP - Mk2k
Finally a boulderdash type game on the PSP, based on the MS-Dos version of Heartlight with a lot of features that remain the same! The idea is to collect the hearts without getting crushed by rocks / stuck in small a small crevice or blown up by a falling grenade. You have to move swiftly / carefully through the maze avoiding the aforementioned objects however you have to like these sort of games!
Graphics - 8 / 10
Sound - 7 / 10
Gameplay -  8 / 10
PSP Games (firmware 1.5 only) --- By b0rk  [ * No.2 NEO Reviewer * ]
I'm only reviewing the games for 1.50 since that's what I have, feel free to ignore this post. I'm only posting since I think the developers would love to see as much feedback as they can.
I'm rating out of 30, converting to percent, then adding the bonuses.
x/10 for Controls and Gameplay.
x/10 for Presentation (graphics and sounds).
x/10 for Effort (developer skill and game features).
+5% for Original (never entered into neoflash compo before).
+5% for Motion support.
Aap Lander .2
Controls and Gameplay: 9/10 Controls are fine. Gameplay is good but requires patience, a minimap/radar might help speed things up. The background doesn't scroll at all, so on some levels you can't tell how fast you're moving.
Presentation: 8/10 graphics and sounds are good. I did see some debug message boxes. Also the particle effects didn't seem to come out at the correct angle, for example if I fly up the sparks go rightwards.
Effort: 10/10 Good game, appropriate features, decent amount of play time too.
Original: YES +5
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 27/30 +5% original => 95%
Bumper Harvest
Controls and Gameplay: 8/10 good controls but feels slow to watch the ball, you could say watching paint dry? (only joking).
Presentation: 10/10 graphics and sounds are good.
Effort: 8/10 could do with more extras like highscores.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 26/30 +5% original => 92%
Convey
Controls and Gameplay: 8/10 controls are nice and simple, I managed to get to level 3 but after that it's too fast/hard for me.
Presentation: 10/10 music seemed to be suitable and it even comes with different graphics packs.
Effort: 8/10 I saw a redraw bug once and I would like to be able to choose what level I start at.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 26/30 +5% original => 92%
Heartlight Deluxe PSP 1.0
Wasn't kxploited.
Unrated.
Impact
Controls and Gameplay: 8/10 sometimes it just feels like the balls don't want to move in a certain direction until I back up a bit first. There's also no pause or way to get back to the menu once you start a game.
Presentation: 7/10 I can see what I'm supposed to do, but it could be made better. I find the font is a little hard to read. The music loop also feels too short, or it could just be the ending making it annoying.
Effort: 9/10 the game itself is good and it comes with a range of extra features.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 24/30 +5% original => 85%
Orbid V2
Controls and Gameplay: 9/10 controls are fine and there's a wide variety of game modes, although I can't imagine myself playing this game often.
Presentation: 8/10 It all seemed a bit too dark, but it's still playable. Some of the text was a bit small too. I couldn't hear any music, could just be 1.5 but the XMB does support at3 when browsing the game icons.
Effort: 9/10 Good range of play modes and options. I think it just needs tweaking a bit more.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 26/30 +5% original => 92%
Paper Battle
Controls and Gameplay: 7/10 it's 2 player human vs human on 1 PSP, sorry to be blunt but I think it would just be faster to use pen and paper. One thing I would like to see is larger dots, 1 pixel is too small.
Presentation: 7/10 nothing flashy here, but I don't think it was ever meant to be, no sound either.
Effort: 8/10 It seems a lot of time was spent on this, but it could be made even better.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: NO (although I did find it in the files)
Total: 22/30 +5% original => 78%
TetriAbetes
Controls and Gameplay 10/10: Yes it's a copy of tetris but the controls were fine and I didn't see any bugs.
Presentation: 10/10 graphics and sound were of good quality, I like the guide showing how the block will land.
Effort: 9/10 There was a pause button and a highscore, but it doesn't save your "guide" setting.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 29/30 +5% original => 102%
The Chronicle of Mr. SUN
Controls and Gameplay 8/10: Controls are fine, gameplay is a little frustrating when you can only fire one shot at a time and almost never dodge the boss weapons, so I always die before completing the game.
Presentation: 9/10 graphics and sound work well, although crackles sometimes.
Effort: 10/10 There are so many nice touches in this game.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 27/30 +5% original => 95%
Unofficial Cave Story: Return To World
Controls and Gameplay 7/10: There is 1 player or 2 player mode which is nice, but after that it feels more like a toy than a game. For example after you catch the mimigas they keep falling instead of disappearing. In the boss level not much seemed to happen at all.
Presentation: 8/10 the graphics and music are nice but there aren't any sound effects. There were a few visual glitches too.
Effort: 8/10 It looks nice but when you play it there isn't much to do.
Original: YES +5%
Motion: NO
Splash screen: YES
Total: 23/30 +5% original => 82%
Final ranking:
#1 TetriAbetes 102%
#2 The Chronicle of Mr. SUN 95%
#3 Bumper Harvest (joint 3rd) 92%
#3 Convey (joint 3rd) 92%
#3 Orbid V2 (joint 3rd) 92%
#6 Impact 85%
#7 Unofficial Cave Story: Return To World 82%
#8 Paper Battle 78%
Edit:
Added reviews for Orbid V2, TetriAbetes and Unofficial Cave Story: Return To World.
Changed scoring method to use percent so the +5 original is scaled better (this means you can get up to 110%).
Edit 2:
Added review for Aap Lander .2, since this version has bug fixes from .1 (compo version) I don't think it would be fair to put it into the final ranking.
